November 20, 2021
Beautiful Beloveds,
Tomorrow, we celebrate Thanksgiving Sunday. In this season of reflection, as the year draws to a close, what are you grateful for? I’m grateful for my family, my home, vaccines and booster shots. I’m grateful for you and the missions and ministries of our church. I’m grateful for ordinary everyday things like hot, dark roast coffee and fuzzy socks and movie nights. I’m grateful for the full moon and changing seasons.
Author Anne Lamott describes fall like this: “The colors are broccoli and flame and fox fur. The tang is apples, death, and wood smoke. The rot smells faintly of grapes, of fermentation, of one element being changed alchemically into another, and the air is moist, and you sleep under two down comforters in a cold room. The trails are not dusty anymore, and you get to wear your favorite sweaters.”
What blessings large and small, mundane and marvelous can you notice as you look around, within, and back? Tomorrow, let us gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing, and offer our thanks and praise for abundance all around us.
We remain Together in Christ…Committed to Serve.
Peace,
Heather
