Together in Christ—We Move Through Transition Together
Rev. Taylor wants to know us, his new congregation. The Transition Team thinks a binder of one-page “biographies” of our church family can really help this happen more quickly. We hope to have a bio page from each family or person by Wednesday, June 22.
- You may include any information you wish!
- The display board of our Transition Team’s bios and others may give you some ideas. Look for it near the church office during the week or in the narthex on Sundays.
- Provide an 8 ½ by 11! Include a photo or photos. Hand write it and drop it off at the church office Monday through Thursday between 9 and 1, or Sundays during the services, send it as a PDF or Microsoft Word doc via email to Heather Wolfe at capecodwolfe@aol.com
- If you include a photo that you wish to have returned, we’ll scan it and get it back to you.
- We want to have a page from each family or person! Won’t it be great for Rev. John to have these family stories on his first Sunday, July 3?
Together in Christ—We Pray
Please pray for all the victims, survivors, and loved ones of those in the recent shootings. Please pray for all elected officials who can make a difference in gun safety and legislation.
In this time of transition, please pray for Rev. John Taylor, the people of the First United Methodist Church of Westborough, MA, our District Superintendent Rev. David Calhoun, Rev. Wanda Santos-Perez, our incoming District Superintendent, our Bishop, Sudarsharna Devadhar, Pastor Heather and her family. Please pray for all churches who still have not heard who will be appointed to their church.
Please submit prayer requests here or call MaryAnne Farley (774) 487-0719.
Committed to Serve—We are Making a Difference!
Welcome Basket for Pastor John The Transition Team is busy planning for the arrival of the Rev. John Wesley Taylor as our new church pastor come July 1, 2022.
One idea is a Welcome Basket from the congregation!
Welcoming cards and notes suggesting your favorite eating place, a pastime/hobby, i.e., summer baseball leagues, a museum/playhouse, i.e., Heritage Gardens you enjoy, or a business/service you use can be shared with Pastor John and his family in the Welcome Basket.
The underlying idea behind this is to not only welcome Pastor John and his family to Cape Cod but to start a conversation and begin to build a relationship between you and Pastor John.
Here are three items already going into the Welcome Basket:
- One couple has decided to write a welcome note recommending their favorite ice cream place on the Cape, Four Seas, with a small gift card included for him to try this spot.
- Another example is a welcome note from the Prayer Group saying, “Wimpy’s is a place we treasure as we often eat here to celebrate our birthdays and other special occasions,” with a gift card to Wimpy’s.
- And yet another example is a welcome note with a schedule of all the Hyannis Harbor Hawks games and some Cape League Mix from Smith Family Popcorn in Hyannis.
If we can answer any questions or brainstorm any ideas, you might have, please contact Jackie Schrafft at 908-377-4811 or Sharlene Moran at 774-487-1619.
The deadline for items for the Welcome Basket is Friday, June 24, 2022. All items can be left with Jane Gray at the church office. Sue DeMartino will work her magic and put every card, note, and item into a beautiful basket that will be delivered to Pastor John soon after his arrival.
Thank you for helping to welcome Pastor John and his family by joining in on this Welcome Basket!
June 2022 Collection for UMCO Pantry ~ Many thanks, Church Family, for your wonderful contributions of diapers and donations for A Baby Center last month! You are blessing our community in such amazing ways! For the month of June, we are collecting Individual Serving Sizes of healthy snacks, including raisins and other dried fruits, nuts, trail mix, protein bars, granola, small cereal boxes and bars, and non-refrigerated pudding mix, applesauce, and other non-refrigerated fruit cups/bowls.
It’s Summertime, and the living is…
As summer becomes a very busy time, our church grows…how would you like to help on Sundays?
Please look at your calendar and let me know if you can be available for these dates either at the early or later service.
July 10, 17, 24, 31 August 7, 14, 21, 28 September 4, 11, 18, 25
Be a Liturgist
Would you like to read the scripture? A liturgist (lay reader) is needed at each service. You’ll be given the verses during the week, so you can become familiar with them.
Welcome or Usher
We are registering each person at service, much like the registration books we signed for many years. Our ushers are helping with social distancing when needed and helping all to feel comfortable in our sanctuary. We’ll pair you with someone who is very familiar with the procedures, where the light switches, where to find the coffee hour, and where the restrooms are…all the vital info!
Provide flowers for the altar
Paula Johnson, the florist who has been providing the beautiful arrangements on Sundays in exchange for using the Rainbow’s End parking area to sell from her Flower Cart each Friday, will not be using the parking area over the summer.
She is willing to make arrangements for Sunday services for $50. You choose whom you wish to honor and suggest what colors would be most appropriate.
Please sign up on the calendar near the sanctuary, or email, text or call me to arrange the date you wish.
It does take many people to have our services run smoothly each Sunday. By participating in these ways, you will become much more familiar with our wonderful congregation and our church.

Committed to Serve – Giving Generously

You can also support the shop by donating items Wednesday and Thursday 11 am – to 2 pm. Please do not leave any items in or outside the shop when our volunteers and employees are not there to receive them. They need to be able to sort and store the items carefully, sometimes in the annex. If you cannot donate during these specific hours, please contact the store manager, Pamela Turner, at 508.428.5304. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Thank you for supporting our staff, volunteers, and the missions and ministries of our church.
