Pentecost | Sunday June 8, 2025
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly, a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.- Acts 2:1-4
Join us at 8:30 am or 10:00 am in our Sanctuary.
Wear red for Pentecost Sunday!
Pastor John Wesley Taylor
Sermon – Living the Spirit-Filled Life!
Scripture: Acts 2:1-21, John 14: 25-27

Meet Dr. Aruna Stevens from Sierra Leone this Sunday, June 8, 2025.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Aruna Stevens, a remarkable young physician from Sierra Leone, who will be visiting our church from June 5–9 as a guest of Patty and Allen Morell. Dr. Stevens will join us for worship on Sunday, June 8, speaking briefly at both the 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM services, and will be available in the Solarium after each service to meet and connect with members of our congregation.Meet a Young Doctor from Sierra Leone: Dr. Aruna Stevens
Aruna’s inspiring journey began as a young boy in the residential program at the Child Rescue Centre (now the Child Reintegration Centre) in Bo, Sierra Leone—a United Methodist mission our church has supported for many years. A dedicated and gifted student, he excelled on the West African Senior Secondary School Exam (WASSCE) and was accepted into college, eventually going on to complete medical school in Sierra Leone.
Through hard work, faith, and perseverance, Aruna became the head doctor at Mercy Hospital—another UMC mission we proudly support—where he provided critical care to some of the most vulnerable in his community. Most recently, Aruna earned a scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans, where he is continuing his advanced medical studies.
This is a meaningful opportunity to meet someone whose life has been transformed by education, Christian compassion, and the ongoing support of the United Methodist Church. Come hear his story and be reminded of the powerful, lasting impact our mission work can have across the world.

About All Moms Are Heroes
All Moms Are Heroes was founded in honor of Shannon Hubbard and her daughter, Maggie. Shannon was a devoted mother and passionate advocate for early childhood education. This fund supports “missing middle” families—those who earn too much for traditional aid but still struggle with the high cost of childcare and early intervention. By easing this burden, we help ensure all children get the strong start they deserve, regardless of financial barriers.
