Memorial Day Sunday Worship, May 25, 2025

On this Memorial Day, we pause with grateful hearts to honor the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. As United Methodists, we are called to be people of peace, justice, and compassion. We lift in prayer the families who carry the weight of loss and remember with reverence the men and women who gave their lives so others might live in freedom.
Graduate Recognition Sunday
Help us honor our high school graduates during the service. Let’s send them off with love and support!

Meet a Young Doctor from Sierra Leone: Dr. Aruna Stevens
We are honored to welcome Dr. Aruna Stevens, a remarkable young physician from Sierra Leone, who will be visiting our church from June 5–9 as a guest of Patty and Allen Morell. Dr. Stevens will join us for worship on Sunday, June 8, speaking briefly at both the 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM services, and will be available in the Solarium after each service to meet and connect with members of our congregation.

Aruna’s inspiring journey began as a young boy in the residential program at the Child Rescue Centre (now the Child Reintegration Centre) in Bo, Sierra Leone—a United Methodist mission our church has supported for many years. A dedicated and gifted student, he excelled on the West African Senior Secondary School Exam (WASSCE) and was accepted into college, eventually going on to complete medical school in Sierra Leone.
Through hard work, faith, and perseverance, Aruna became the head doctor at Mercy Hospital—another UMC mission we proudly support—where he provided critical care to some of the most vulnerable in his community. Most recently, Aruna earned a scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans, where he is continuing his advanced medical studies.
This is a meaningful opportunity to meet someone whose life has been transformed by education, Christian compassion, and the ongoing support of the United Methodist Church. Come hear his story and be reminded of the powerful, lasting impact our mission work can have across the world.

Many of the supplies can be found at the Dollar Store or other discount shops—there’s no need to spend much. Thank you so much for your generosity and support!
