Blessing of the Backpacks! All students are invited to bring their backpacks to church with them this Sunday- September 10th- at either service 8:30am or 10am. Since school started this week we want to bless each backpack and student- and the school year. That students would bring God with them to school. We will also ask a blessing on all teachers, parents, bus drivers, janitors, administrators, etc. We will also bless and thank our Sunday School Teachers! So bring in your backpack to be blessed!
All welcome! In Christ, – Pastor John

Classified Ads for Church Members
Patty Kilmain is searching for a new place to live. She would like to find a stand-alone residence which is a studio or one bedroom unit. One floor would be ideal. Anywhere in the town of Barnstable and its villages would be great. If you know of anyone with a guest house or in-law apt. that might be available on a year-round basis, please give Patty a call 617-894-4858.
We have a generous donation to our yard sale of a lovely reclining chair. We can’t move it to the Annex, so Susan Jenkins has stored it in her garage for us. We are selling it for just $25. Please call Susan (916-765-8269) or the church office if you are interested.
Committed to Serve—You are Making a Difference
Go to our new ENDOWMENT PAGE HERE to watch a series of presentations. We have brochures and much more information to share. Please call Dick Weir at, 774-487-1450 or email him at grichweir@gmail.com for more information. He will be happy to visit with you.
We have four wonderful gifts to celebrate. Your Board of Trustees has been busy, with the help of the Lend a Hand group, making needed repairs and beautifying the church and our three other buildings. Our solarium carpet needed a deep cleaning. Rebecca and John Mincieli arranged for a professional service to do the cleaning and they covered the cost. We needed repairs to the irrigation system at the Annex so we could keep the lawn from turning to dust. Carl and Sharron Riedell paid for those repairs. Our Rainbow’s End building was badly in need of a new roof. Jack Cotton made arrangements with a contractor for a greatly reduced price and donated half the cost. Our church shutters have never been painted and are looking quite dingy. An anonymous donor came forward to cover the entire cost of the job to paint all our shutters. God is at work through our generous members to help us make our church a welcoming, well cared for (see the love) place for people to gather, worship and serve. Thanks!
Altar Flowers. If you would like to donate flowers for the altar, please sign up on the bulletin board by the restroom in the solarium and fill out a form for Jane and leave it on her desk. The arrangements are $50.00. You may leave a check with your order or drop one off when convenient.
Holiday Fair News, Happenings and Functions
We want Your Help with the Holiday Fair! Any kind of Crafting – Painting, Sewing, Woodworking, Wreath and Tree Decorating, etc. Come to the Annex on Thursdays after 11:30 am or call Sharon Kaczmarczyk 774-313-0199.
Holiday Fair Gift Basket News: Thank you to all who have been bringing in individual items to add to or start a Gift Basket. Now is the time to bring in themed items for your Gift Basket donation. We have recently received a “Child’s Gardening Basket” and a “Dog Treats and Toys Basket.” On Sunday we picked up a “Bee Basket”. All wonderful ideas! Thank you!
Please remember, your basket donations only need to be dropped off in a bag. The Gift Basket committee will find an appropriate container/basket, add shredded filler, wrap it in clear cellophane and add a bow! We also tag it listing the enclosed items. We are underway! The Holiday Fair is only two months away!
Let it Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow…If you can help, Let us know, Let it Snow, Let us know!
Other ways to help with Gift Baskets…We need gift cards to add to mugs which we already have. It makes a perfect small gift. We could use $10.00 Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks’s gift cards $25.00 gift cards for the following: Centerville Pie Company, Sam Diego’s, Cape Cod Beer – or other local Craft Brewery. One each for the following businesses Black Dog – Trader Joe’s – any local fish market. Again, thank you for your help. If you have other ideas, let us know!

Used Jewelry: Any old costume jewelry that you no longer wear would be great for the fair. Leave it in the box on the table in the Solarium.
We are planning to republish our church cookbook. Do you have some favorite holiday recipes you would like to share with us so we can add? Email to the office@umcchurches.org.
Take a look at the photographs that you have taken this year and send us some that you think might be good for the church calendar or note cards. You may text or email them to Jane Gray 508-273-6447 or office@umcchurches.org.

Bring in all kinds of pasta, marinara sauce, meat sauce, alfredo sauce, canned vegetables, canned tomatoes, tomato paste, pesto sauce, canned parmesan cheese, canned clams and for the kids; canned spaghettios and spaghetti and meatballs. We are collecting cell phones that you are no longer using. They need to be data free and will be donated to the Independence House in Hyannis. Woman and children, that are the victims of domestic abuse, are housed there. The phones are still able to dial 911 in an emergency. There will be a basket in the solarium clearly labeled where they can be placed. If you also have extra chargers, they would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for helping our neighbors to stay safe. If you have any questions, you can call Patty Kilmain 617-894-4858
Change for Change A glass bottle for your change is near the food table in the solarium. The United Women in Faith (UMW) have put it there to collect money to ultimately aid local women and children. UWF Treasurer, Donna Bodley will take care of this change bottle weekly, and we thank you for your donations.
