Saturday Tidings – The United Methodist Church

Greetings Church,

This Sunday, we begin a new worship series, Beguiled by Beauty. We’ll ponder together a text from Ezekiel, one of the wackier books in the Bible. We’ll pause to notice the beauty in the world and the wonder of all creation, including our neighbors. We do this not to close our eyes to the ugliness of racial injustice, but rather to open our hearts to see all people as God’s children.

When I see George Floyd as God’s beautiful, beloved son, how can I not grieve and cry out for justice? When I see our planet as God’s beautiful, beloved creation, how I can I not work to preserve and protect her? When I see the world through God’s eyes, how does it change my perspective and my call to action?

Beloved, you are beautiful. Do you hear that often enough? You are God’s beautiful, beloved child. You are a gift of love and beauty to our broken, beautiful world.

**All Church Conference--By Discipline of the United Methodist Church, we are required to hold a charge conference to ratify receipt of the Paycheck Protection Program Loan Funds. Our Charge Conference will be June 14 at 11:30am, via Zoom.

The family and friends of George Floyd, the people of Minneapolis, and all who struggle for racial justice

All who are feeling isolated and lonely

Russia’s Artic Circle where 21,000 tons of diesel oil have spilled, leading to a 135-square mile oil spill

All civic leaders, city councilors, governors, and national authorities. May God give them wisdom, courage, compassion, and stamina.
