Greetings Church,
After announcements last week by both our Governor and President, many of you have asked when we will gather for in-person worship in our sanctuary. The short answer is I don’t know. The longer answer is that it may be awhile. Valuing safety, hospitality, and the full inclusion of all people, we will not gather for in-person worship until we have gone 28 days (two viral cycles) with no new cases of COVID-19 on Cape Cod. Until then, we will continue to worship and gather on-line, and find ways to gather safely in small groups, outside our building. Click HERE to see the draft plan, and I welcome your questions. I commend to you an article about reopening churches by a United Methodist Pastor in Florida, “Why Re-opening a Church is Different,” by Alex Shanks.
This has been a difficult week for our nation. A week when we have mourned the death of one, George Floyd, and the death of so many as COVID-19’s toll rose to over 100,000 deaths. Let these not just be numbers or headlines but rather people, lives, loves, relationships. May we be ever mindful of our call to love one another, without exception, to work for justice for all God’s children, and to build God’s kindom here and now. As the Body of Christ, we are called to care for the vulnerable, speak up for the voiceless, and offer hope to a hurting world. If ever the world needed the good news we have to offer, it is now. Let’s BE the church….Together in Christ, Committed to Serve.
Peace,
Heather

We Worship Together–Virtually:
Sunday: Worship with us on-line, on Sunday through our website and facebook. We premiere it on Facebook at 9:30 am, or you can watch it at your convenience. This week our Bishop and Cabinet offer a Pentecost Celebration! They offer this gift as a sign of our solidarity and connection across New England. They also offer this gift to all who are involved in producing, recording, distributing online worship each Sunday. I am grateful for the gift and the opportunity to be in worship with you, and rest.
Committed to Serve
“A hero for A Hero” Update:
Thanks to your generosity, last week our church provided healthy snack packs to all the staff of the Regency! Our youth helped pack 100 bags of goodies, full right to the ribboned brim. Check out the photos on our church facebook page. Additionally, we sent cards to every Resident reminding them, they are not alone. Thank you to all who have made or sent cards. Thank you all who have supported this project with financially, prayerfully and faithfully. You are making a difference in our community!
“Sharing is Caring” You may have seen this phrase on our website. It’s simply a reminder that when you share good news about our church, you are inviting someone to connect with our church. Every share of a meaningful mission and ministry, devotional, mission project, worship offering, and more is just one more way we’re telling others, “Come make a difference with us!” And, it’s not limited to Facebook. Tell your friends and family. Send a text inviting someone to our Zoom Coffee Hour–just so you can see their smiling face! Pick up the phone and give someone the phone number to join our Wednesday Check in. Let’s tell the community in these uncertain days, the United Methodist Church is Together In Christ…Committed to Serve.
