Beautiful Beloveds,
This Sunday, we begin a new worship series, Imagine the People of God. Enjoy the song that inspired the series, Imagine the People of God.
As we continue to adapt to life in the midst of a pandemic, we continue to offer worship via Facebook, YouTube, at 8:30 and continue our worshipful engagement in the church parking lot at 11am. This Sunday, October 4, we’ll observe World Communion Sunday and share communion. As I remain quarantined, Rev. Dr. Ed Deyton will lead our worshipful engagement. If it helps in your planning, we will have a box available for accepting tithes and offerings. You can also still mail your gifts or use our online portal. To attend, please register here.
Peace,
Heather

I Am Her—A virtual women’s leadership summit
The General Commission on the Status and Role of Women (GCSRW), in partnership with Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, is hosting a virtual women’s leadership summit, I AM Her, October 8-10, 2020.
The I AM Her Women’s Leadership Summit is not your ordinary conference. It’s a movement of women coming together to be inspired, be empowered, and to be equipped to do the work both personally, professionally and within The United Methodist Church to connect. This summit will focus on worship, relationship building and network mapping along with various courses to help participants learn how women in leadership have overcome challenges, and created solutions that supported their success. There will also be opportunities to learn how to build your professional network and maximize its potential.
Our keynote speaker is Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber. Bolz-Weber is the author of three New York Times bestselling memoirs: Pastrix; The Cranky, Beautiful Faith of a Sinner & Saint (2013), Accidental Saints; Finding God in All the Wrong People (2015), and more recently, SHAMELESS: A Sexual Reformation was released in January (2019). An ordained Lutheran pastor (ELCA) and the founder of House for All Sinners and Saints, Bolz-Weber has been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition, On Being with Krista Tippett, Fresh Air, CNN and in the Washington Post, Bitch magazine, The New Yorker and The Atlantic.

Hymns of Hope— a virtual concert with famed Irish tenor John McDermott!
This special event is a unique coming-together of three local agencies – Champ Homes, the Cape Cod Council of Churches, and Duffy Health Center.
We serve some of our most vulnerable neighbors here on Cape Cod – those living on our streets; those at risk of losing their homes; those who need help putting food on the table; our neighbors who need our help now more than ever.

Thank You Generous Osterville Church Family!
HUGE THANKS for donating to “A hero for a Hero.” At the end of August lunches were ordered and purchased from the Barnstable Market and delivered to the 85 staff who tirelessly work at The Pavilion Rehabilitation Nursing Center. Thank you also to both adults and youth who hand wrote over 80 cards for the kind residents of The Pavilion. The staff and the residents truly appreciated these wonderful gestures very much! Additional thanks for the many school supplies that you donated last month for local students who in need of them!
More Opportunities to Help Our Community:
Food Collection: During the month of October Thanksgiving Foods will be collected such as canned cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, canned corn, canned pumpkin, canned ham, canned olives, rice, canned gravy, nuts, instant potatoes, and bread mixes. Please do not donate any perishable food including bread products. For right now we would also prefer not to receive anything packaged in glass. “Sweatshirts and Blankets for our Homeless Neighbors.”

What is most needed are men’s sweatshirts in size medium and large, women’s sweatshirts in size medium, as well as blankets. Items can be gently used (and cleaned) or new. Please leave them in the trash can in the front of the church marked, “Sweatshirts and Blankets for our Homeless Neighbors.”
