Beautiful Beloveds,
This Sunday, we pause, as a nation, to give thanks for time off from work. How are you doing? Are you pausing to rest and renew in these strange days? This Sunday, we pause, to sing, and pray together. Enjoy a new take, by Mark Miller, on a Charles Wesley hymn, “Oh For a Thousand Tongues to Sing,” sung by the Wesley Singer of Wesley: A United Methodist Campus Ministry at Virginia Tech.
See you soon, from my screen to yours.
Peace,
Heather

Together in Christ
Have you ever read the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John? Starting September 9, we’re offering two opportunities to read through the gospels. Wednesdays at 5:30pm, outside at the church. Thursday mornings, at 10am, via Zoom. (Link is at the end of the email) We’ll read and ponder together, asking one another what the text means and how it relates to today. All are welcome–those new to the Bible and those who’ve read it through multiple times. There’s always something new to be discovered in the pages of scripture. To participate at the church, please register here.
We Worship Together–Virtually: Worship with us: Worship with us on-line, on Sunday through our website and facebook. We premiere it on Facebook at 9:30 am, which allows us to watch together and greet one another, or you can watch it at your convenience.
Chat with friends: Sunday at 11am, join us for Zoom Coffee Hour (link at end of email)

Green Tips
One of the features that makes Cape Cod special are the 996 small lakes and ponds. Unfortunately warming temperatures, combined with increased development and more powerful storm that wash fertilizers, wastewater, and other damaging nutrients into the ponds have created ideal breeding grounds for cyanobacteria. These toxic ingredients of algae blooms can multiply in dangerous amountsin very short periods of time. As temperatures continue to rise, we’re going to see more of this, meaning that many of the ponds on the Cape could become unswimmable. The Association to Preserve Cape Cod conducted a two year study and found that one third of the 149 monitored ponds had unacceptable water quality due to excess nutrients, particularly phosphorus, from septic systems and lawn fertilizer. If you visit a pond, pick up the litter, pick up your dog’s poop, don’t trample shoreline vegetation and park in designated areas. If you live on a pond join a pond group or start one, reduce chemicals that might enter the water including fertilizers and pesticides, reduce the lawn area and plant more native species. Especially helpful is maintaining a natural swath of native vegetation between your lawn and the pond.
Please continue to submit pledges via our online giving portal, and through the mail. Your generosity is supporting meaningful mission and ministry in our community!
