United in Christ
Greetings,
If you drive by our church, you will see a locked building with no lights burning but our church is alive. Our church still serves the members and serves the community around it. Volunteers try to call everyone once a week, we still donate food to those in need, we try to visit at-home members. Look around, there may be some you can help by doing even as small of a favor as picking up their mail. Despite the troubled world around us our church still works to serve.
While we are away from each other we still need to keep others in our prayers. Please let Pastor Heather know if someone needs prayer support. Sunday messages are available online or by mail.
Without the ability to use our building to house fundraisers, we need to find other sources of income because of our budget concerns. Thankfully, our solar panels continue to pay us back even when we are not there. The finance committee has recommended that our church apply for the Cares Act funds. Hopefully if we are accepted, we can receive money that will allow us to pay our staff for the next eight weeks.
Those who make pledges need to continue to send them in as do those who make plate donations. Pledges and donations can be sent in online through your bank, can be paid directly through ostervillechurch.umcchurches.org or can be mailed to the church. The mail is picked up regularly.
We will see this through. We will celebrate a Resurrection Sunday when we again open our doors and open our hearts together in joint worship. While we may be physically apart we are still united in Christ and committed to serve by doing God’s work.
Peace,
Kathy Silvia
