Do you really need that bottled water?
Bottled water companies are sucking local community aquifers dry. In addition to reduced water supply, this extraction causes salt water intrusion, less pressure and flow for local residents and concern for communities struggling with significant drought issues.
Concerned citizens and action groups in Florida, California, and Michigan are fighting against big bottle companies like Nestle, who come into communities and pay a nominal fee for extracting millions of gallons of water per day. These groups are fighting for the elimination of extraction permits, reducing existing permits, and the goal of eliminating bottled water production, except for emergency use. Buy a reusable water bottle!
