See below for the link. About Lent Lent, whose name comes from the Old English word for spring, reminds us that even after a long winter, renewal and resurrection come. Over the next 40 days—plus Sundays—we journey toward Easter through reflection, repentance, and renewal. You are invited to take on a spiritual discipline this season: a daily devotion, prayer practice, act of service, or meaningful habit. You may also choose to fast from something to make more room for God in your life. During tonight’s service, there will be an opportunity to quietly write down a personal Lenten commitment—something between you and God. The ashes, made from last year’s Palm Sunday palms, will be offered in the shape of a cross on the forehead or back of the hand. They are a sign of our mortality, repentance, forgiveness, and faith in the saving love of Jesus. |
