For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness. Romans 12: 4-8
Beautiful Beloveds,
Tonight, I served as the presiding elder for the United Methodist Church in Enfield for their Church Conference. Our siblings in Connecticut are part of our new Seacoast District, which includes Eastern Connecticut, all of Rhode Island, and Cape Cod. They too, are discerning and discovering new and familiar ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus, at such a time as this. They too, are learning, adapting, and trying things for the very first time.
In this season of thanksgiving, I am so very grateful for the connectional nature of the United Methodist Church. We are connected, church by church, person by person, around the world, to join together To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World. To change the world is work we can only do by the grace of God, and the strength of the body working together.
Peace,
Heather
As United Methodists we promise to support the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. Here are some ways you can live into those promises, this week:
